Grey

Grey

A Poem by Lexi

Dear love,
Once you asked my favorite color,
mocking me for the answer.
Never did I explain to you
the significance of it.

You see depression,
and melancholy.
Drabness as well as indecisive.
Mentioning the lack of emotion and detached nature of it.
Haunting me with your words,
I never quite moved on.

To me, it meant a solitude;
control and stability.
Calmness, harboring neither extreme.
It was my safe place to hide,
One I could carry inside.

Your cool remarks I carried with me,
making me swear to tell no one
as long as i lived.

So if you are reading this,
I'm already gone.
