A Poem by Lexi Hammond
"

Another night of no sleep and a lot of writing.

"
When my hands are on your chest I take a minute or three to think
They lay so peacefully in the three second intervals between the breaths you take
Three months ago the same hands clawed at my own chest, begging my heart to be still
"This pace is too fast, breathing is impossible"
That was then and now its a minute past 3
You listened to every shaky word that came out of my mouth before laying your head down
Things I've never shared from the parts of my mind that I keep tucked away
You looked at me and said three words.
He loves me, he loves me not
I don't have to rip off the flower petals, I don't think you'd even let me.
The flowers are growing within me
Why destroy something you've watered every day?
Sometimes, the pace of my heart still gets to be too much
You tell me they didn't build Rome in 3 days
Take it slow, it'll all be okay
I can only believe you and say 3 words
And in this moment, I know that I found my one.

This is probably pretty cheesy but that's just how I felt :-)

I love the emotion you convey in this poem. It's not cheesy. It's genuine.
