Joshua Jacobs' Mystery Girl

Joshua Jacobs has completed yet another $500,000 sale of his world wide famous artwork. It was sold to millionaire Hans Canuelle, who is a fellow Swiss citizen, last Tuesday at auction. The american artist, whose money lies quietly in bank accounts, has grown to fame after his discovery three years ago at the tender age of twenty five.

 

Art critics have said of his work being 'unique in a way no man can intend it to be'. This complimentary review perhaps referring to the subject of all of Jacobs' work. The many portraits of a girl most likely the same age as Jacobs are well known throughout the art world. But the question on every ones lips is; who is this mystery girl?

 

Seen at various stages through her life in his drawings, Jacobs has commented that 'all of the pieces that are sold are from many years ago and have great sentimental value to myself.' However, when asked about the identity of the person in his pieces he replies 'no comment' on every occasion.

 

One thing can be for sure though, is that his current girlfriend, music producer Karla Finchley, is not the girl in the pictures. Her sharp features draw great contrast to the soft and youthful face of a girl obviously very close to the artist at one time. It is rumoured that Finchley and Jacobs are engaged, after photographs of Finchley with a ring on her left ring finger were taken in February, earlier this year.

 

Neither of the pair have wanted to confirm the rumour however in an exclusive interview with Goss magazine, Finchley, 30, said that 'there has been talk of it but nothing's set in stone'. It is thought that Miss Karla is the more enthusiastic one in the couple concerning marriage whilst Jacobs has the more modest and shier personality. Often seen hiding behind his partner, who takes the limelight in photographs, he prefers his quiet cottage in the Swiss mountains to Finchley's sleek and stylish loft apartment in New York.

 

No records can be found for Joshua Jacobs before the year 2004 after he changed his name. His previous identity is unknown however it is believed that his name change could be linked to the mystery girl. So who really is this mystery couple? Nobody knows and by the looks of it none of us ever will.
