Desperate and Pleading

Desperate and Pleading

A Poem by Askew

If you won't love me then use me
Kiss me and send me on my way when you grow bored
If you won't write me love letters
Then let me cut the tags from your shirts and sew them into mine
I'll label myself secretly yours and wear your scent
If you won't hold me while we sleep
Then give me your cologne
I'll spray it on my childhood bear and pretend it's you next to me at night
If you won't love me then simply look at me
Keep me in your eye or else I fear I'll cease to exist
I'm not living if my reflection isn't mirrored in your gaze
