Excellent job, Lexi. This is very powerful, and if I may judge a little, the best poem you've written that I've read so far.
Keep this up, my friend...
Lexi - I very much sympathize with your feelings about prejudice. First and foremost I don't believe that GOD makes mistakes. If we are here, He loves us all. I have taught history for quite a few years, especially U.S. history. On "Back-To=School Night" I let the parents know what I intended by reciting a song from the musical "South Pacific." You've Got To Be Carefully Taught.
You've got to be taught to hate and fear, you've got to be taught from year to year. It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear, you've got to be carefully taught. You've got to be taught to be afraid, of peoples whose eyes are oddly made, of people whose skin is a different shade, you've got to be carefully taught. You've got to be taught before its' to late, before you are six or seven or eight
TO HATE ALL THE PEOPLE YOUR RELATIVES HATE - YOU'VE GOT TO BE CAREFULLY TAUGHT! I tried to make sure none of my students ever expressed or better yet experienced prejudice in my classroom.
Well, Lexi Dear 🌸
In as much that I neither dislike or am prejudiced against homosexuals, per se, I confess that I very much like and enjoy your spirit in composing and sharing this colorful little Free Verse piece.
Regardless of one's sexual bent, it's the person that matters, not their sexual propensity or leaning toward gender, whether homo, heterosexual, or otherwise.
I love the title, Lexi, and your use of the rainbow to emphasize the beauty of our differences, as-well-as your passionate attitude in beliefs and sense of right and wrong, fair and just, and unfair and unjust … there's nothing whatsoever lacking or dysfunctional about your outlook, as far as I'm concerned.
Looking back on the days of total bigotry, ignorance, and intolerance, I am amazed at the steadily growing advancements in attitude and acceptance … and, though, I realize there is a long way to go, it looks far more promising than ever.
Good on You, m'lovely-hearted poetess, beautifully stated … big hugs! ⁓ Richard 🍃
PS: Make your fonts bold and add a hint of gold to the yellow to accentuate the barely discernible colors.

I've never quite felt the full blow of the masses bigotry or idiocy because I'm bisexual and most people will just assume I'm straight, but one of my friends has been beaten up on the side of the street before, simply for being gay. I felt I had to write this. I go to a Catholic school where every so often we do a school wide Confession, and they give us a list of sins that, if committed, we have to atone for them. At the top of the list was homosexuality. After seeing that, I had to write something.

It's a perfect example of the unfortunate narrow minded bigotry of which I spoke.
The ignorant parts of organized religion, such as misunderstanding what sin is, as compared to understanding human nature, is one of the aspects I cannot personally buy into or endorse for my own outlooks toward understanding and acceptance. It's, often, as though it leaves no room for humanity as a whole … only those portions that fit into limited doctrine, denying us "all" the right and need of chosen, personal worship.
Anyway, I could climb up on a very high soapbox about unfairness and ignorance when it comes to judgmental, condemning bigotry.
I am so very glad you wrote your thoughts, feelings, and emotions … you give us all pause for thought and inspiration, Lexi … bless you your lovely, caring heart! ⁓ RJ 🌟
