Socrates Chariot

Socrates Chariot

A Poem by Askew

Jump and fly
Go left
Now right
Follow me
We'll run away from here

No
Keep on straight
Stay the course
Follow me
I'll lead you carefully

Ride with me
We'll gallop
And whinny
Loosen my reins
And I'll take us faster
Than ever before

Ride with me
Slow and steady
I'll rock you
To sleep
With the rhythm
Of my hooves

Let it go
Leave me be
Work together
And make life simpler

Ride with me

Ride with me

Quiet

I'll make you thunder

I'll make you pure

Please
I won't shoot either of you
But I can always let go
And see what happens

clever format as it gallops along waxing philosophic. i think it's about not controlling the reigns and seeing where things lead. doing what's right vs throwing caution to the wind and man's struggle with the two and being caught in the middle. nice job. memorable, i enjoyed it very much ... :)

This is writ in a form that reads like a play. The tension between these steeds is sad as they both wish to ride but in different ways. And in the middle a wise man sits. This reads in flowing dialogue and has a lovely mystical quality to it.
