Writer's Block

Writer's Block

A Poem by Askew

When I find it hard to write
I know something is wrong.
When the words don't flow from me
The way blood once did
I know something is loose inside me.
It's not the absence of thought or ideas,
It's the inability to spill my bloody words.
Writer's block isn't a wall I have to break down,
But a screw that needs tightening.
Something happens - changes,
And my brain is rewired
To stop the ideas from becoming
Proper words on a page.

But...you just wrote something? And "Proper words on a page"? ..Why on earth would you ever want to do that? Poetry is a unique ride that tears away our sanity while giving us a voice of relief and writer's block follows the same madness...I like this. Great breaking away from the standard of what we consider to be what we consider to be...and "the inability to spill my bloody words" well that surely sounds about right.
I consider it myself as the silence running down my sleeve from the stroke in the aneurysm of my brain hemorrhage that is coming to end me eventually...but that's just me...lol. Thanks! Enjoyed it.

Dear Lexi, all writers suffer from this at times. It happens and I have no idea why. You can't force the situation. It's no good worrying about it, I usually find my muse returns after a while, only when she is ready. Just relax, maybe review more until your words come back to you. All good wishes

Chris
