A Child's Wish for the World

My addition to the Cafe’s 11th Annual Holiday Collaboration

A little girl.

A lover of words.

Sitting upon the old bearded man's lap,

He's decked in red.

And she's asked what she wants,

And so she wishes everyone

Understood

And appreciated

Words the way she does.

"Words are beauty and peace,"

She declares.

"We need more of that."

Author's Note

Not my typical style of writing, and not my usual type of theme, but I followed the instructions for the collaboration and I'm proud of the product.
