Ice cream

Ice cream

A Poem by LJ
"

The title is just a cover. It's not how you normally say it.

"

As a child you been admired of how brilliant you are
Teachers praise you and students treat you like a star
You've done great in studies and making friends
Everyone sees you as a happy child, with no mess

Yet when you come home, its nothing
All those things are just like oxygen,
They're unseen , With no importance at all cause they're given

You greet everyone with a hug and smile
Still doing great in everything you touch
Doing your best to feel fulfilled for awhile
Telling yourself everything's great, nonstop

Yet when you're at home you're filled with bruises
Inside and out, cause it is still not enough
Can't understand what you should do to stop this nonsense

You're now a teenager, studying and working at the same time
Pursuing both your dreams and making an income for all fines
Cause you're trying to fill those spaces that are empty
You thought this would keep you company

Yet no one knows you were kicked out of the house
Literally liked a dog with only 3 pairs of underpants n your bag
And so you had to find a home penniless and alone

As an adult, You're now living a life away from your brutal past
Financially Stable with a Job that you're proud
Co-workers admire you of how good you are with what you do
You help them when they needed you

Everything's great and you're doing fine
No more bruises in your face, no more expectations declined
Just thinking and taking care of yourself
What else could you ask for more

Yet when you're home...
It's still empty, you have no one
No one to talk about what's on you're mind
When you found someone to talk to. you know for a fact they're not interested
That they don't care, that they're just there
coz they have to
not because they want to

From the beginning it's all been hidden
Writing poems and songs could never deny
So when will it end? How should it end?
Ice cream inside.

Your words scream every emotion that your heart has repressed. Being good in studies, having a stable job, living a good life is not enough sometimes. Simply what one needs is a person that they can look upon whenever they are alone.
Beautifully written. You brought out many emotions in me, to some extent I can relate to this poem. I loved this, thank you so much for sharing.

Wow, this is a great poem. I have written poetry on similar subjects, but I think you may have done even better on describing this state of emotions. Great work.

The poem was great, but it was the description that truly got me to click on the title to read it.

Very clever marketing there!
