The light in my soul

This is more prose than poetry - an outpour of expression

I can feel you pulling away,

I can sense my fear becoming truth,

I can feel my heartstrings snapping,

The sadness is already invading me.

I will lose you soon.

 

I am preparing myself for heartache.

I know that soon there will be tears and longing.

Yet it won't be all I am left with.

When you entered my life, a light went on in my soul.

So even if you leave, the light you left won't go out.

 

What you brought into my life, I will never lose,

What you tought me, I will never forget,

What I expereinced with you, I will cherish forever.

 

Because of the light in my soul,

I will forever be a better person.

this is good as it is.. but if you want it more poetic you might try not using words like "and" & "but" to begin a new line..
