Voices in the DarkA Poem by LethuThis was merely a figment of my imagination..In a corner I sit still beset by fear, my silence was loud enough for the deaf to hear, and visible for the blind to see clear
"Come now my dear"
In a sotto voce voices appeared and pierced my psyche like a sharp spear
"Do not despair"
"Who is it that is here? I beseech you do as you wish but my soul you shall spare"
My cries seemed to be in vain I could feel my skull start to tear, echoes of ill will surrounded me as its presence drew nearer
My pride hath been sheared My face flows with tears and my freedom was cut off with painful shears
"You pathetic weakling"
The voices said is a sneer... © 2013 Lethu |
