You're the Mistake, I'm the Mistaken

You're the Mistake, I'm the Mistaken

A Poem by Eslynn

A tick, a tock, before the clock melts.
Time has sped up, taking it’s toll over my life.
My heart has frozen over,
caged in ice,
and if it could beat,
it wouldn’t beat for you.
I never would have thought
that things would end this way,
I couldn’t have imagined,
you’d be so selfish.
I’ve thrown myself out into the open:
I’ve made myself completely vulnerable to you.
Who would have thought,
that goodbye really is forever?
Lets just face it:
You’re not worth the effort.
A mirror, a ring, and a broken heart,
symbolism means nothing here,
it can’t fix what you had to start.
You’re the mistake, I’m the mistaken.
Verbal interrogations,
my mirror, my fantasy, has never shattered so quickly,
and as words spew faster, faster,
I realize now that goodbye really is forever.
Who would have thought,
when everything is said and done,
and I give you back your jacket,
and you give me back a loaded gun…
Things ended so suddenly,
actions have reactions,
You’re the mistake, I’m the mistaken

So bittersweet... Passionate, deeply personal, perfect... The honesty of your writing is brilliant...
