Riding On Empty

Riding On Empty

A Poem by Eslynn

The car is so empty

Though the passenger seat is occupied

But only by your ghost.

I’m riding on empty

My mind fueled by memories

The road is constructed from the strongest form of remorse

I’m leaving tonight

I’ll escape this town

But only for an hour.

Maybe a long drive will make me think

Maybe I’ll realize I was wrong

If this black cement turned to water

I’d dive in and gladly drown.
