Topsy TurvyA Poem by Peyton LightMy dream worldA blue apple, hanging from a tree. A strange world before me, and I hold the key. A dog and a cat sitting well by the fire. Two yellow mice take a stroll through the brier. One brown butterfly wants to go back in time. So much is expected now that he's at his prime. A beautiful girl sits alone on a bench. Her heart in a book, with her hands she does clench. Black daffodils bloom by train tracks nearby. They seem so at peace underneath the orange sky. A turtle dove whispers to ants on the ground, "You may be small, but I won't look down."
A little girl sleeps with her red teddy bear. She is at peace, for she knows people care. A pink rabbit hops in the wide open meadow. Searching for purple carrots, to take back to her burrow. I run my worn hands through ripples in the sand. And watch small critters crawl away from marshlands. There's snow all around me, it's cold on my skin, But something about it makes me feel again. I walk down green streets and see so many smiles. I wouldn't mind staying here for a while. A blade of white grass became a tall tree. It grew a blue apple, which gave me a dream. © 2017 Peyton LightAuthor's Note
