ImminentA Poem by LeslieNoelThis is a poem I wrote when I was watching my grandmother go through dementia.
It's hard to write these words
I didn't really think you'd forget me Or our relationship Last week you knew me Now you think I am my mother Not the granddaughter that you shared things with Like love and encouragement I miss you The loss of you left a gaping hole That I am floundering to fill Gaping, mouth open No breath to fill it Loss is poignant Strong Painful Loss is empty Isolating and floating Loss is also filling I am stuffed Not hungry Because I'm filled with sad air
