DrainedA Poem by LeslieNoel
My disability drains me
Pulls the energy from me But if I swim Instead of sink I might be able to think My way through the tumultuous waves Make it through the darkest of days And head towards the light It's hard to walk through some of my days with it It claws holes into my psyche And anxiety pours through them Over ragged, jagged edges Sharpens as it moves It seeks insecure thoughts And attaches to them Leaches on Acts like a tick And bleeds me dry But light seeps between the little holes Hope! To recognize and see past The lies my brain feeds me
