Old FriendA Poem by LeslieNoelJust a poem capturing the happiness or returning home.
So buried beneath depression
Debris For what felt like a century From rejection and other people's misery Distrust Mistrust Fighting the kindness inside of me No form of flattery Just harsh stares And cold shoulders Cancelling last minute plans Friendships shattered Breeding deep seated pain Felt like going insane And then the break Where I move back home Originally feeling out of wack Not necessarily all alone Just stunned into silence By the lack of violence Protruding from kind crevices Polite words Kind and soft Holding doors Genuine embrace Being there in Grace My soul returns to mingle With what filled me as a child Joviality running wild And so I rise up to greet it Hesitating at first to meet it But succumbing Surrendering To the reality of being home Coming back to an old friend
