Walking WombA Poem by LeslieNoelI have been going down a journey of becoming a mother. I have into some difficulties at times. I wrote this because I feel that love does not come from my womb, but my heart.
I am not a walking womb
And am more than the sum of it's parts There are ways to be a mother Other than birthing a child For caring comes from the heart Not just from my glorified organ I can deposit love Into a child who sorely needs a home The astronomical need to be a mother far out weighs The gnawing feeling to procreate I long for the chance to breathe love Into the heart of a child who desperately Needs to feed upon it's nourishment Child, I am coming I feel the pull But not from an umbilical chord But of heart strings connecting me to yours I see you in my mind's eye Calling for me to come forth Save you from a childhood of neglect I reach out my hand To take your small one in mine We shall soon walk together towards your bright future
