In the Wailing WoodsA Poem by LeslieNoelThe trees contain the secrets of the woods. Listen closely, and they may share what they know.In the wailing woods, I walk. The gnarled up trees seem to talk, of years gone by, and days to come, brandishing a moan, a lonely hum. As I quietly begin my stroll, I see the dark winters have taken their toll. A deep desire the trees do hold, to share their secrets, I am told. Creaky whisperings whip from branches. Wild tales of hairy beasts, and heroic stories of man sprouted from an ancient land. When twisted trees were seedlings new, they collected mysteries as they grew to share the language of the Earth, of our origins, and of our birth. © 2019 LeslieNoelFeatured Review
