AcceptanceA Poem by LeslieNoelSometimes the people who hurt us the most are ourselves. This poem is about breaking away from that.
Acceptance is like a cool baum
on a scorching hot summer's night. It freshens and cools my mind as a I find that a door to my cage has been swung open releasing me like a bird whose been held captive for a number of repressive years. The path of self judgement I have traveled has suddenly veered. Only I held that key and could answer my own plea for acceptance. As I soar away and leave behind the cage with it's splintered metal, I begin to understand the depth of the self purgatory that was inflicted upon me by the one person who was responsible for my well being. For the first time I am seeing the error of my ways. It's time to leave behind that life phase and the person who was most unkind to me, my former self. With that one realization the cage obliterates into oblivion. All that is left is an empty spot that will be filled with acceptance and self love. Freed from the cage is the dove. © 2018 LeslieNoel |
