InvisibleA Poem by LeslieNoelThis is a poem I wrote about having a learning disability and how isolating it can feel.
How do you make someone see a truth
That's only visible to you? They may not see it But it doesn't mean it isn't true To me it's an inescapable cage One made from the fists of my own rage Where I see a cage They just see a box That I can easily escape Instead I just stand here With my mouth agape I go to cry but nothing comes out Except for self recrimination And some left over self doubt My friends and family Don't know this restriction That lassos it's way up my heart Rendering me incapable Of a fresh new start I wish they could see that barbed wire fence Made up of a sadness so intense It blocks my path from moving ahead Filling my head with a darkened dread I was born with a restriction And it felt like a constriction On the dreams I could achieve Deep in my soul alone I grieve © 2017 LeslieNoelFeatured Review
