Four Pictures of an Average Town

Four Pictures of an Average Town

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

could be anywhere

"

This is a town full of windows and holes,
the houses have not grown up together.
They are waiting to be born.
The slabs in the pavement are not friends,
they have been forced together.
But they do not pull away under my feet.
The streets have arms, they stretch like lovers,
the ways do not lead to where i wish to go.
And it starts to cold.
The cars crawl through the evening,
a braclet given to appease an insulted friend.
This is a square, hard place. Stop.

There is so much magic in your metaphors... this town come to life... the movement among the windows and walls... Creates such a wondrously dark atmosphere...
