The Endris Question

The Endris Question

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

Endris...recently past,another.

"
Doubt is manifold,
the employment of a Bengali eyebrow,
clatter of a white-boned wrist with silver,
words cored of passion.

Disbelief is universal,
brushing of earth from a doll`s china face,
scratching on stone, running salt of departure,
the uncertainty of immortality.

But if you asked me about,
the fastening pulse of spring,
soft summer corn,
mild air of an autumnal evening
or the harshness of winter`s questions
then I will beside you.
I say yes and yes and yet again yes.

Deep in meaning and rich in imagery, what more will I ask for? Probably more of the same?? A pleasure to read.

Stunning pen. A true gem. I liked this as much as any I have read or written. Just enough imagery to open my door, yet leaving the light off to find my own way with your words.

Your first two stanzas are beautifully lyrical and gorgeously imaged--pure poetry!
But, the last stanza is where this poor old meat-and-potatoes guy lives; the lines most meaningful to me--and, in a way, I guess, that's what the entire poem is saying.
Impressive, Leslie!

I think i might have to walk several miles with these words before I could even pretend to understand what they mean. They are tall words. And I like the way they sound on my tongue. Maybe they are too tall. Or maybe I am too small. Today. The nicest thing about your poems is coming back to visit again. I'll make it a regular appointment. To walk with your words.
