Ireland - Two Poems

Ireland - Two Poems

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

Portrush and Dublin, 1976

"
The North.

Burnt peat black land.
Atlantic salt rocks.
Giants slipping on seaweed hair.
A small dog races ridicously along the beach,
voices shout names stolen by the wind.
The South.

Pointlessly drifting in Dublin,
looking outside blindly.
It´s a journal not a diary she said,
and quickly left me more alone than before.

I like the description of Ireland. I was station outside of Stuttgart. I did many road trip to Ireland. The people were kind and the beer very good. Thank you for the field trip in your words. A excellent poem.

Dear Leslie,

Wonderful work. Very insightful. These were short, succinct summaries that i greatly enjoyed. Loved the opening two lines, followed in the ending of the pieces with more mundane, everyday observances. Wonderful observation.

Kudos. High marks.

Best regards for the New Year of 2012!

reflective of the voice of the land and the people, and the colorful and volatile history. Speaks from the heart as only Irish can! Your simplicity and absence of words is remarkable

Great contrast of the two areas..I have not been there but imagine it would be like comparing rural to city in America..Thanks for reading and commenting on my work.I appreciate the time spent there..Sunflower

How sad that last line... good imagery throughout. I need to visit that giants causeway one day.
