Moon

Moon

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

as it is

"
a cold moon, but
ten winters ago
it was encased
in more ice;
the stars roll out
of a dark nest ;
we slip with care
through snow
down to the road,
we watch the ghosts pass,
there might be snow foxes
in the lost copse,
careless with cold

You know, every verse of this great poem screamed to me WHITE. That was a very interesting reading as the imagery worked in perfect harmony to evoke and strengthen the association with that colour in my mind:
Moon, ice, snow, ghosts, snow foxes were all direct "calls" and then there were the indirect ones produced by a simple tendency we have (or maybe just me) of associating them with white: winter (because of the spontaneous association with snow-covered landscapes) and cold (as a "follow-up" on winter and therefore linked to the same associations).

Great job, loved it !

Thanks for looking at this, my best wishes
i remember a fox in Vermont we saw walking up a road to a big farm---i can imagine him a white ghost---memories frozen...good ones and bad ones.

i like the room you give us in your poems...we get to move around in interpretive steps, our own dance.
