Why I Hate Gravity

Why I Hate Gravity

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

down

"
heavier than down;
pulling and falling;
red-kneeled prayer to the god

of downstairs and tears,
of steps, gravel and caves,
flapping like a torn flag

the fool of terra,trapped
under the bricks of this world,
flightless, too solid to rise.

gravity compared to submission and burial is a unique concept; thanks for posting

The burden and despair is so palpable here. Appreciated so much.

Being a lapsed Catholic I relate to this. The burden of Original sin foisted upon children and the guilt that is created from this, The insincerity and futility of believing in subterranean worlds or those of heaven occupied by gods. We create this 'gravity' and your poem made me feel the emptiness of such beliefs Leslie.
