A Tree Suffers Under Snow

A Tree Suffers Under Snow

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

written after a walk today

"
black boned, minstrel faced
           leaves broken with ice,
           veined like a frosted puppet;

something known is leaving,
           the cold makes me
           stamp in acted rage;

I can`t stand the weight,
           I can`t stand the weight.

Beautiful in its simplicity. I love reading your poems, Leslie. It is always such a pleasure -

interesting last stanza - it's from the point of view of the tree burdened with snow and leaves, imho

So much frustration and longing in a descriptive poem with your usual magic brevity. Lovely!

I love looking for gestalts in trees. Grotesques in the branches and the bark. Especially in winter. This gave me the same enjoyment and feeling.
