Beethoven-Haus

Beethoven-Haus

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

for Dad

"
we drove late afternoon
         over the dirty Rhein,
         the sky fake with orange,

to Bonn, to a house of cool empty rooms,
         white with words,dark with chords,
         to an elegant Hammerflügel,
for my father the end of a journey
but the start of the sublime.

very sad yet laconic - a pleasant scene is imposed upon the readers so they can be reminded of the wonderful times your had with your father; excellent read

I agree with Ken on this one Leslie. As always the master of the minimalist piece packed with emotion, pathos and description.

I am reminded of the words to Graceland by Paul Simon. This is rich and I can smell the river and the furniture. When you can do that it is a good poem.
