Tunnel

Tunnel

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a tough week, here a few lines about how bad it can get

"
I thought I heard steps in the house, but
it was the black tunnel of my own heartblood,
a flood in old caves.

My eyes are full of smoke,
I am as empty as an old suitcase.

wow, yes...we hear the past and/or the future following us, or beckoning us. Like voices in a haunted house....the steps behind us, in front of us...and we are traveling with the thoughts...the heart pounding,
love the last line..."I am as empty as an old suitcase"---yes, we travel light, clothes-wise but even an empty suitcase is heavy when there is so much baggage we carry with us inside.

A fantastic chilling write. It's like a cold shadow is hovering near. A strong poem. I sure hope that weekend got a lot better.

I can feel the darkness, fear and pain in this. There isn't much worse when you think you hear someone in the house when there shouldn't be, the heart pounds painfully and loud. There is the terror and feeling of helplessness. Great poem!

I like how there are many dark symbols to express your feelings... makes many more metaphors to consider and visualize your feelings

I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel!
