Grey In One Line

Grey In One Line

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

sad

"
Looking over the pale fields
and old woods, I recognise
                   this can not be
                   the consequence of birth,
more a late push under winter mud,
as if I am as thin as cardboard,
                   one of no depth,
                   desolate as sleet.

Thinking of all of earths disasters, this says very much in a few words. Valentine

Dear Leslie, I love this little poem. Some may find it sad, true, but I find it uplifting and grand, a cold chill blew through my room as I read which made the poem come alive in a way I had not expected. You are a true poet.

Thank you -

""more a late push under winter mud"

most significant line here, imo...it's the most straightforward in depicting your depression.

Looking out into my own grey world of spring, I equate this to both the outer and the inner depression -- it is hard to feel good when you are stuck in the mud in a world of grey.

A very haunting and chilling poem. This is the way life ends, for all. Expect for those who pass before they reach the winter of their lives. All life.

You paint a very emotional picture here of the reality of life....were here, young and then time starts taking it all away.

the way you write...you have incredible depth...but i understand this feeling...i often have that feeling of thinking my depth disappeared a long time ago...or maybe those woods were ones i always ran out of...as i aged...now i search for something...

very stark imagery, which strengthens the somber tone of this poem - i love this
