Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

it saves us..

"
So when the moon
             draws the tide
             you crawl into yourself,

your eyes close like
             a wet umbrella
             the tension in your face

slacks, the wind cools;
            your breath flows
            steady under the sea;

the stars slip into the dark, the waves.

Sleep is like entering into another world, and your words for me paint that nicely and perfectly. Some even believe we leave our bodies and go on adventures. Only in my good dreams, please! Love your poem.

really like the image of the wet umbrella and that tension....sometimes i wonder lately if this would be true...that the tension slacks when and if i sleep--

sometimes our mind races so hard, the stars never quite slip in to the dark...

we just have waves of thoughts...

tonight is a full moon...on Christmas...i hope it is shining brightly on you tonight, dear Poet...

you give so much to us with your words.
