The Bottle Collector

The Bottle Collector

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a poem

"
The puzzled, expecting look
of a ferret ; down the bin
a treasure of headstruck bees
and sticky paper. Each bottle
the promise of a few coins,
of late gulleted and clear.
Pictures of jovial rum islands
and sorts of laughing deer.Hope.

Torn into sadness, he roams
motorway toilets and the black
seas of carparks, angular, zebrine.
Taking time like a casual lover
in for the taking,the pull.

This is heaven.
Hands down into the rest.
The weight of long, cold glass.
More of a miracle.
More of a miracle.

He roams to learn
Real life
Miracles are hope
And hope, makes miracles
Out of bottles , depending on the mind..
Hope can be made out of anything
Nice to see you fine sir
Thank you for sharing , Holly

"The weight of long, cold glass."

I like this line. It symbolizes the lost, happy memories that weigh down and form the bottle's contents.

As I read this i got the feeling of reading about the 'life of a bottle' from beginning to the end before its turned in for a coin or two. Nicely done. I really like this.

This sounds like my brother-in-law that collects old things, so many that I pity the one that inherits them and tries to sell them for what they are worth as some are valuable to a collector. Valentine

Hallo Emily, thanks for the review and my best wishes
and a penny or two for your thoughts...like turning in bottles for coins....but often we bottle up our thoughts, and they are hard to get out....they become messages in bottles that have to survive oceans of holding back before they finally get uncapped and poured.

love this piece.
