Wolf Watching Lovers

Wolf Watching Lovers

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

as it is

"
Bloodeyes among the trees.
Waterwood broken;
an open split

of small life.
Steps out of tact,
tied.Tubular

breath that makes
leaves vellum.
So when the two

bend and coo
with a mouth full
of pigeons, you

pace and green
in the dark
strange with envy.

Here they are putting wolves to add to the animals we all ready have in this state. Now you mention those poor birds and it starts me thinking...Kathie

Wow. What images this conjures. I believe the appeal is the simplicity juxtaposed with the complex, without being so abstract as to be obtuse. Others would do well to learn from you.

The lines about the pigeons are intriguing...I'd never expect them to be put in a positive light like this.

Thanks for the kind words. Mostly I don`t like my poems when I re-read them, but this is, I hope OK.

You are very welcome.
I do like it. It is very good.
this reminds me a bit of the movie "Wolf"---the instinctual animal experiencing love with all the senses, naturally...whereas with humans, the act of love comes with a price...with different motivations behind the coming together....a ritual planned, an act of purpose, often ulterior motives...with wolves, it's just the basic need for survival, and mating for survival---no hidden agenda...

you challenge my thought process with your words...
