Song Of Farewell

Song Of Farewell

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a poem for the time of year

"
grey hair on a pillow
lucid tunnel over lace
trace of a white visage

shadow family of crows
carry the early day
circles across the sky

the bell
that for all this calls
the usual suspect to earth

Nicely written poem. Nice structure. The bell tolls for all of us, all life. Winter does seems like the season of death but perhaps all life is just sleeping and waiting for spring. I enjoyed your poemm.

I like the structure and free flowing style of this poem. There is a catholicity of meanings that tease the reader with promise, but without ever revealing their faces. Your use of symbolism is superb and visualising the motion of these beautiful words is indeed a pleasant experience. Bravo, my friend!

The feeling of an ending comes through strongly with your words and imagery.
Another piece of excellent writing.

contemplative.... terse and measured...age and the time for endings...of the cycle of life and dying and, ultimately, death....thank you for sharing :)

Thanks for the kind words, and best wishes
Provokes images of ageing and reminiscence as questions are asked about meaning.

Glad you liked this, John, and regards from here
Great imagery and execution of hidden meanings. A sad song of farewell perhaps with the bells tolling in the distance welcoming a new season and seeing off another. Excellent, sir...:).......

Yep. You are welcome...:)....................
when our season ends...the crows circle...and the usual suspect (we) find our final rest in the earth from which we came...dust to dust...

as we age we feel them circling...hopefully we make the most of each day.

a deep write here that finds much meaning beneath the surface.

I really like the way you portray the images here. Your note put winter in mind and then you hit me with the image of death in snippets. The last stanza really stands out.
