Himmler`s Smile

Himmler`s Smile

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

why did such an evil man always smile ?

"
A talking head
that shuts out light,
as big as a black moon falling.

A bad boy with silver eyes,
the entrance to a closed house,
holes rounded by a ring of smiles.

A sheet of glass
that looks at you
as you pass by a window.

This makes me ponder where a smile needs to come from to be an expression of genuine happiness... When there is emptiness or darkness or absence of heart, then what is a smile but a contortion of face? Elegant, how you put this together...

A sheet of glass
that looks at you
as you pass by a window.

The face smiles but the eyes never did to use an old cliche. This says that so much better.

A stunning write as always Leslie. You craft your work as masters of poetry do and it puts you head and shoulders above all the reality 'TV poets'.
