a true story

"
Light flooded into her face ; a widow under a cross.
If we change at Penge we might get the 154 or 157,
or even take the train to Sydenham and walk
up the hill. The off-licence might even be open.
Perhaps we could get some bottles of light ale
and a few packets of crisps; that would be nice,
wouldn`t it ? Then the nurse came in, all starch and smiles.
Time for your boys to got home now, Mrs P...
