Under Brighton Pier

Under Brighton Pier

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a poem

"
Seaweed to scare you,
septic green, triangles of a
half ship failed,
full of salt and tide,
the cool church of after-hours love,
dark with broken glass.

If you look up you can see
a fence on its side,
unclaimed steps and thin shadows.

My brother said to me ;

We are hidden under the earth.
If you put a seashell to your ear
you can hear the waves.

This poem is simply breathtaking. No wasted words. Beautiful metaphors and imagery. The theme faultlessly explored. Along with my close poet friends around the world, whom I have known for many years, you are the most gifted poet I have read in a long while. Unique individuality. A pleasure to read and beyond 100/100.
