The Clothes Man

The Clothes Man

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

is there anybody out there ?

"
Sucked out of denim and
cotton, half in running

flat over the bedroom floor,
skinless like a cartoon cat;

somebody I knew yesterday,
an underarm stainer, a tracer,

a schlepper of ballast hidden
in layers, now magicked away

as I sleep as a pink filling,
ready to meet myself.

A very skillfully done poem. Love it. The imagery is powerful and unique.

Not sure if this is 'the clothes make the man' and you're naked to the world now, but I love the image of the cartoon cat, perhaps need another cuppa to figure this one out...

"skinless like a cartoon cat"

what happened to me, where did i go?

still pondering...but love these words from beginning to end.
