House

House

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

about the past

"
strong breezes in a familiar house
corridors full of leaves
torn curtains across broken windows

mirror face.
your back turned into a bow;
suffer the same loop

the same head brick,
the same safe of dirty secrets;
explore the same labyrinth

from which you want to escape;
a script not to be ripped up,
the pushing away and holding.

Modern writing, I like how you built up the stanzas. The lines contain strong words. Simplicity with a deep impact whilst reading.

A very haunting poem. Time eats away at everything...structures, memories and life. When memories are gone so is the past. Events, lives, all things. It is good to write things down. It keeps the past alive. I like the imagery you use in this and really enjoyed your most wonderful poem!

I like old houses. They seem to hold secrets of life. I enjoyed your description in the poem. Memories make a building have reason and purpose. I wanted to read more. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

This one is a bit haunting, had to read through it a few times, very interesting choices to portray those feelings.

It is though you have articulated the feeling of deja-vu. A familiar place that conjures up uneasy memories of the past. Great work, so few words say so much, yet it leaves us wondering......

I think this is a very compelling poem. Our lives haunt us. They can give us comfort but we still yearn for something new and time steals hopes away. This is a poem of strong emotions too. At least for me it sure was. Very well written poem. I enjoyed this a lot.
