Lilith

Lilith

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

Adam`s first wife

"
Lilith opened up her thighs
and showed the world her blackened eyes
her god oh god oh god

God banged his head against the tree
why have you now forsaken me ?
no god oh god oh god

Eve now jealous of the snake
cried out in pain for heaven`s sake !
her god oh god oh god

Adam cursed the apple red
and all the lies that Eve had said
his god oh god oh god

So do not speak and do not tell
as this dammed world goes straight to hell
no good no god oh god.

'So do not speak and do not tell ~ as this dammed world goes straight to hell ~ no good no god oh god.'

That repeated third line really adds to the near fear and fury of this. Could almost be called 'Lilith's damned inspiration'. You've tinkered with She who hides in the shadows.. and that first stanza makes a body sit up and think.. 'Whoaaaaa, what's this!' then, read on and discover the coming of..

Finely though briefly written, thus immensely clever.

And yet we do tell, and we do speak it, and so this world goes...

Thanks for sharing, Leslie. You have an idiosyncratic style that rarely fails to satisfy.

Hats off, and bow...
