Lilith

Lilith

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

Adam`s first wife

"
Lilith opened up her thighs
and showed the world her blackened eyes
her god oh god oh god

God banged his head against the tree
why have you now forsaken me ?
no god oh god oh god

Eve now jealous of the snake
cried out in pain for heaven`s sake !
her god oh god oh god

Adam cursed the apple red
and all the lies that Eve had said
his god oh god oh god

So do not speak and do not tell
as this dammed world goes straight to hell
no good no god oh god.

A dark and morbid piece of historical lore. You've taken it in a very nice direction, with very good rhyme and repetition to truly emphasize it. Nicely done

Outstanding write. Yes, the darkness of the world started somewhere.

The Filth of Lilith. Legend woven from the Jewish myth and beautifully turned into a jaunty piece of poetry!

This is deep and says so much of the human condition and religion.

Ah yes, and the world keeps on, keeps on going to hell hoping to somehow make it to heaven. Outstanding brilliant poem!

This is a chant and a fine one at that. Mystery legend and belief all churned to begat a wonderful poem that prokes an atmosphere all of its own.

Raised strict baptist..and a believer that demons are real...I often wondered how Eve got made out to be so evil. Why did Lilith get all the fame...and Eve get burdened with all of the guilt? Was it because Lilith was already damned? Did this give Lilith permission to act out on free will? I feel some hypocrisy here, and it also gives us woman a bad rap.
The repetition was fearce...his god her god...and then you end it with NO GOD...you push the envelope for believers and non-believers alike...a taboo subject matter that deserves a second read.

I like the name Lilith. Myths had made her famous for the wrong things. I like the flow of thoughts and the very good ending. Sometime hard to stay on the narrow path when beauty overtakes us. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.
