Poet In A Cage

Poet In A Cage

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

about poetry

"
a face full of fence
a gutbucket full of grammar

fart and grunt an epic
the fat runner`s sour breath

What a Scream !
As if he understands every word we say..

So he jumps over a cheap epiphany
(reduced this week) for a

hermetic, self-enclosed heads-down
and bares his teeth and spits the I big pronoun

at half lost teenies rucksacked with Mom`s
little love, ice cream nearly inside noses ;

Strange. Let`s go. I`d rather look at the elephants.

Ha! I had to laugh at myself as I read this. We are trapped at times by our own constructions. This is a great reminder to maintain creativity in our expressions. Of course, someone may be fascinated to see a man sucking icecream in through his nose...
Talk about a brain freeze! Ha. You showed a cynical humor here.

I recognise him.
Wonder what would hppen if they fed him more.
I really like this concept. Perhaps we should all be kept in a barrel and fed through the bung hole. Heinlein once said something like, Beware of a man who writes he may have other unsanitary habits.
Excellent Leslie.

Wow love the uniqueness of piece, it is stuning write. Thanks for sharing Sir.

I think this poet in a cage could be a poet who let themselves trapped in realm of bitterness and insecurity the writer opt to hide because he can't accept the reality happening around the corner. I believe the struggle of a writer to be recognized is a never ending quest, sometimes the writer armored and wise but lack of creativity, sometimes a wannabe writer lack of experience but makes magic and write easily without an effort. So Poet in a cage could be a realm of bitterness and insecurity.

'So he jumps over a cheap epiphany ~ (reduced this week) for a ~ hermetic, self-enclosed heads-down ~ and bares his teeth .. '

Seems poet in a cage is in a rage; not quite having a tantrum but .. .. Is he having a rant about his inability to find words, trapped in his own frustration, wanting to describe surroundings but not able to? Might have to come back to this.
