Lovely metaphors that paint a rich picture. I get an image of a bronze sculpture of a mermaid/siren. Like Claire the bone tunnel made me search for meaning, perhaps signifies a marble sculpture?
Hi Leslie, I think that this is a tremendously accomplished poem, I really like neat, succsinct impressions potrayed by your skillful rationing of sentences, visually this is very satisfying also (to consider the image portrayed and the actual poem format),
well done to you
This makes me think of a mermaid sitting on a rock down by the beach and I also saw as I read a lovely girl stature in a setting down by the sea. I really love this one!
A girl, crouching/sitting on a bronze beach... curly hair, like seaweed, tumbling over her back and shoulders. Hands circle the face while elbows jut forward over the knees as she gazes into the distant ocean horizon. I hear it, see it, smell it, feel it. I'm curious as to what she's thinking, if anything. Perhaps she's achieved a state of no-mind and has become the rocks, the seaweed, the apple of life or perhaps the perfect circle.
Very creative and skillfully done. This gives a strong picture or image of a girl closing herself off from those around her or perhaps protecting herself. Or maybe she's just relaxing. Anyway, I enjoyed this poem and its possibilities.
Three images in one, combined to an unusual picture, Wish I knew more about her face though, the bone tunnel seems a bit empty or ghostly- or perhaps that's the idea?
