A Funeral in Winter

A Funeral in Winter

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

for MG

"
Early darkness ; as oil we drip on tarmac.
A gathering in black, fallen from the sky.
With lemon faces we shadow the next.

Tears empty and clear ; cutting out the jabber
still alive, drifting over cobbles. Arms alongside
too distant and too close ; much too close.

The crows have sent us back into rain;
a brass abide breaks the ring, a space
we stare into ; is that all ?

Strong imagery with good impact to it, excellent creating.

i love your imagery- it clearly invokes feelings and physical impressions of darkness at the same time

You did an outstanding job on creating this poem. Very descriptive. You've captured the bleak and somber mood of funerals.

Very impressive write. Funerals so somber, so painful, tears endlessly shed. It only
seems that is all for a little while.

Funerals are such bleak affairs- 'is that all' is so exactly what I have felt at them. Well told!

sometimes i wonder if poets are born or made . . .

some folks just have such a gift, that it seems inherent to their person, like brown eyes or blonde hair

No..it isn't all..but it has to do..life is for the living..no matter how deep the pain is..Valentine

Eve
man, this is beautiful, albeit tinged with sadness, at one time I prayed for rain now I just wish a little sun would shine.

You made me consider not simply a moment but every moment... all we share in life... and death... holding on and letting go... For those left behind we must consider what lies ahead for us. So poignant.
