His Strat howls like a sick dog, his soul in flames.

A wah wah rips up the warm night, ghosts 

dance over the darkening fields ; octaves flood the

sea of strings  - healing and bringing together,

a sea without water.He will not be found again.

Peace, peace, he is not dead, he hath awakened

to the last major seventh, too cool to live forever.

for me, he will never die. Hendrix was the best guitar player ever..."howls like a sick dog" ah yes, his guitar did...but the sound was still amazing...

"healing and bringing together" he did that too.

"too cool to live forever" like joplin, Elvis, Morrison, Mama Cass and others.

they never grew old...they just stopped, and stopped time in a way.

the more i read this one, the more i like it.

wow....probably the best tribute poem to Jimi i have ever had the pleasure to read. i wrote one many years ago but it wont touch this! your word usage is phenomenal and laced with staggering imagery. quite possibly perfect..... the last two lines are the deal sealer, impactful and resonant. well done, poet!

I like this so very much. It also reminded me of my mom who would play Electric Ladyland until the stylus wore out. I love the sharp coolness of the poem, and the final line is perfect. I may now indulge in a little Purple Haze. Thank you Leslie -
