A New Footnote To Howl

A New Footnote To Howl

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a celebration

"
Howl for the dollar suckers the shake amarni makers
Howl for the rolex souls with their calls to Frankfurt
Howl for the poets who quote in Italian who don`t know how to laugh
Howl for the ice children waiting for buses
Howl for the mobiles with cheap words full of soap
Howl for the sons who drive to funerals in cabrios
Howl for the droners who giggle when killing
Howl for moons falling into beer-sodden parks
Howl for kid angels sorting junk in the morning
Howl for gods who wear pictures on their arms
Howl for bombers chasing w****s in the sky
Howl for the motherless kissing tins in supermarkets
Howl for the acid faced brides of a lost country

Howl for the pissers, the quick-fixers and the holy drinkers praying on pavements.

Holy occupy holy resistance holy ernesto holy lennon holy allen holy fawkes
and all the lost prophets that know that everybody is truth,
let them be blessed for the hard days to come, moving .

I was drawn to your title as I had just revisited Ginsberg's "Howl" recently. You have done a fantastic job here. I am moved to think of all that has gone down the river, what is left, what will be remembered as the "best minds" of our time? "Moloch" is still the same, only more technologically advanced, and deadlier.

if I could applaud you I would ... "applause"... this was satirical, intelligent, imaginative, and a wonderfully unique way of holding a mirror to the experience of our society.... just magnificent work, a perfect anthem.

Different from some of your poetry but never-the-less still a wonderfull poetic rant at the flimsy society we live in and the values we have skewed.

... And I am very happy you did. This piece has inspired me to write in a place that I have not visited for many years.

"Era il giorno ch'al sol si scoloraro, per la pietà del suo factore i rai, quando ì fui preso, et non me ne guardai, chè i bè vostr'occhi, donna, mi legaro."

My face was all question marks when i started reading this then i bumped into...Howl for the poets who quote in Italian who don`t know how to laugh...and i had laugh. At least i am not laughing in Italian...i don't know how i can describe this poem but this is a GREAT piece...i adore how you manage to play with words and still paint it beautifully. I love every single line from the first to the last. This poem tastes raw like a very old wine...your words are original and that's what makes this poem really stand out. Definitely going to my shelf. Thanks for sharing.
