It's Not Too Late

It's Not Too Late

A Poem by Lesley Irma

He said

how did this happen, yesterday we were just kids

I said

I don’t how it happened, it just did

we went to sleep somewhere in our twenties

and woke up to find life moved too fast

we can’t stop it

we can’t even make this moment last

we went to sleep when we were young

full of life, lust, love and fun

we woke and found, we’d grown old

the world didn’t stop

time won’t be controlled

if only we’d known then, what we know now

would we have acted differently somehow

would we have refused to sleep

begging time to slow to a creep

would we have stopped to smell the flowers

would we have slowed down

enjoyed every second, minute, hour

would we have lived differently

or would we have lived the same

he said, I don’t know baby

but

we can start now, it’s not too late

Featured Review

A honest and view at life.
"we went to sleep when we were young
full of life, lust, love and fun
we woke and found, we’d grown old"
The above lines are true. Time moved quickly and we must fight to keep a relationship alive. A strong ending to a excellent poem.
