Rise Above

Lyrics to a song I wrote in high school. It's helped me get through some pretty tough times. Hope it does well for you.

I have often walked down the road of trial
And God knows that I have looked for peace for still my soul; Redemption's Song.
I have searched every book I own, trying to find the answers
And the only thing that gets me through this life is song.

Like the honeybee needs the flower; Like the sparrow needs the tree,
I need to sing

Life has thrown many stones at me, trying to knock me down
Life has tried to thrash my hopes and dreams and kill my song
There were times when I almost believed that there was nothing left for me
And I couldn't see. But now I believe that I can Rise above.

I can rise above because I know that with my God
There is nothing I can't be
I will rise above until the sound of my voice
Has the strength to carry me

There's a melody inside of me, deep within my soul
It's the purest, truest part of me that I'll ever know
It's the rock that uplifts me, that no one can take away
It's the reason that I go on living day to day

I know that I can rise up to anything that gets in my way,
I know it will stay, It wont go away
It's my Savior, It's my all
It's the force that keeps me grounded when the storm calls
