i used to dreamA Poem by Leonard BirchlyricsI used to dream. I used to dream well. I used to write sonnets. Now I'm sweatin bullets.
I used to dream. I used to dream well. I used to fight fires. Now I'm building pyres, to burn up all my papers.
And it's never any one thing that you try to ignore. It's never any one thing that sent you out that door. It's never any one thing that just happens in one day. But the the hardest part of giving up is finding a new way.
I used to fight. I used to fight well. I used have passion. Now I'm missing out on the action.
I used to fly. I used to fly high. I used to be a kite, above such great heights. Now I'm cutting my string, just so I can be.
And it's never any one thing that you try to ignore. It's never any one thing that sent you out that door. It's never any one thing that just happens in one day. But the the hardest part of giving up is finding a new way.
And its never any one thing that they said or did. It's always something within you that makes the fire spit. It never goes away or gets any better. It grows till its another forest fire. It burns up all the memory of the good and bad. Till you're left with nothing but ashes in your hands.
