no soul for the bibleA Poem by Leonard Birchthese are some lyrics to a blues song i'm working on that is kind of in AAB format, though the second half of it is meant to be more of a free form ramble when sung.I ain't got no soul for the bible. Lord, I've fallen on wicked ways. I ain't got no soul for the bible. Lord, I'm trying the best I can. To be a man these days, You can just forget about shame. Cause when she-devil come, She take my heart. Oh, damn my tremblin' knees. I ain't got no soul for the bible. Wish I were a stronger man. I ain't got no soul for the bible. Rapture came 'n went. Seen the error of my ways, Now that its far too late. But when she-devil come, She take my hand, I ain't ever goin' back. She teach me to dance, Leadin' me to Babylon. Don't know why it took so long, To cheat 'n steal for carnal needs. Sometimes you gotta bleed to get fed, Takin' bread from the every-man. Don't understand how it got this way, But I don't mind the pestilence and crime. Redemption won't cross my mind, 'Til I run outta time. And its done, Lord. Never meant no harm. Just didn't know how much you had'ta Give 'n take to be a man, In this world. © 2012 Leonard BirchAuthor's Note
